Half A Life

As the flame melts the hard cores,
As the water tames the unyielding,
As the wind breaks the mountain’s harsh back,
As the heart sweeps away the barriers.
So do those, who do cherish us,
Unshackle us from our troubles and pitfalls.

As do they stand by us, so do we blithe away from them,
Such would a butterfly in its unfettered flight,
Or an eagle, indifferently from rest,
The pansies coquettish in the wind,
So we float far, far away,
Cocooned away in our own insignificant lives.

As time trudges on, half a life we lead,
Pondering over our steps while it’s a rush,
And hastening trauma when leisure is in servitude,
Dreaming for the moon; troubling with our miniscule fears,
So we exist, half hoping, half brooding,
Living incompletely, clinging till the end.
